Tapping Boston and Babson’s vital creative energies

The complex and constantly changing social, technological, and economic global environment challenges  management educators to be more innovative in what we teach, how we teach, and, most importantly, how our students learn.   It is they who will be organizing enterprise for a novel future.

We are being called upon to be more entrepreneurial as teachers, researchers, and scholars.  To be entrepreneurial is to create, find, and originate.  50 years ago, those who pioneered OB teaching and scholarship created the firsts that became the modern, articulated roots of management education.

Now it is our turn and time to produce the next wave of Management and Organizational Behavior  firsts.  How are we teaching, so that learners are willing, eager, and able to organize for constant change? What are we teaching about creating organizations that change? Most importantly, how are we modeling inventiveness in our own teaching and scholarship to inspire originality in business thought and practice?

At OBTC 2008, we hope to have several hundred of the world’s liveliest, edgiest teachers,  scholars and business leaders answering these questions with ideas and practices that electrify  next waves of innovation in management education.  Renowned for an entreprenuerial resurgence, Boston and nearby Babson College provide the ideal supply of creative energies to tap for a ‘Mind Blowing’ meeting.

Babson College is recognized world-wide for its leadership in teaching entrepreneurship, and in being entrepreneurial as it builds innovative, groundbreaking academic programs.  Babson has been ranked #1 in Entrepreneurship by U.S. News and World Report for the past 14 years.  The conference will make use of Babson’s reputation for innovation as we explore how to be more innovative and entrepreneurial in our teaching.
